Paras Loomba
Founder of
Global Himalayan Expedition

Paras is the founder of Global Himalayan Expedition (GHE) and has lead several leadership expeditions to Ladakh to provide clean energy and education access to remote off-grid communities.

Paras is inspired by cutting edge technologies and applies it to drive sustainable businesses. For the past five years, Paras and his team have been instrumental in electrifying 25 remote off-grid Himalayan villages and setting up 105 DC Solar microgrids, all 12000ft above sea level, located at a trek of 3-4 days from nearest motorable road. An engineer by profession, Paras merges technology and passion with an approach to create social technological innovations that are efficient and self- sustainable. Paras is working on creating entrepreneurial models in these high-altitude areas advocating use of energy efficient products and promoting Village homestays that would eventually providing stimulus to local economy, reducing local emigration and preserving age old cultural Himalayan heritage.

Paras was also a team member of the 2012 International Antarctica Expedition led by Robert Swan, OBE, the first person to walk to both the poles. GHE’s work has been highlighted by IEEE Worldwide and featured by National Geographic as one of the "Breakthrough technologies" in the present world. Prior to founding Global Himalayan Expedition, Paras worked as a technical consultant for Aerospace and automotive Industry on testing their technologies.
